Business Director, Applied Analytics – Hybrid/London

A Business Director in Applied Analytics department is required for a global media agency with a network of 10,000 people who work with some of the world’s best brands and companies.  Located in 116 offices across 86 countries, they are the largest media agency in GroupM, WPP’s media investment management arm, which is the #1 media holding group globally.   An experienced analytics consultant with proven experience delivering marketing consulting projects with a strong analytical component, as well as client influencing at the senior level, is needed for this role. The candidate will need to turn a business question into a technical brief and will be able to apply their deep analytics knowledge as well as marketing consulting skills across a wide range of clients, focusing mainly on generating growth and improving marketing ROI. A successful applicant will be working with global brands and travelling occasionally is a requirement for most projects. The Business Director in Applied Analytics role will be the subject matter expert in the following:

• Ensure ongoing relationships with our clients and support their marketing decisions by coordinating with senior management
• Propose the most appropriate advanced analytics solution, using the most recent machine learning (ML)  and cloud technologies
• Knowledge of key data points and ownership of the overall client problem
• Analyse and interpret trends and patterns from data with the team's consultants
• Establish solid recommendations for clients, including supporting materials and face to face presentations
• Respond to briefs, which are often vague and subject to repeated revisions
• Identify and define new processes for improvement
• Support team Partner and company leadership in pitches and business development efforts
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members to support their development

What skills and experience will you need:

• Degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
• Hands-on experience in data and analytics, ideally in consulting or agency environments
• Numeracy skills, including the ability to interpret data and understand mathematical concepts
• Great knowledge of applied data science, statistical modelling, machine learning, and data handling techniques
• Extensive experience working independently on advanced analytics projects
• Working knowledge of Python, as well as data processing and visualisation solutions (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a strategic thinker
• Demonstrated skills in addressing root causes behind issues, identifying pattern and understanding the big picture
• Good communication and leading skills in professional environments (verbal, written & informal)
• Able to cope calmly in a fast-paced, client demand driven environment. Ability to multi-task on different projects under tight timeframes

    Desired Skills and Experience:

• Post-graduate degree in Business, Marketing or Economics or equivalent relevant experience
• Previous experience with digital analytics platforms (Adobe, Google, Salesforce, etc.)
• Knowledge or certification on Cloud Computing for applied analytics
