Overview
Overview
Our client is an ambitious technology start-up building real-time, data-driven products that directly impact customer experience, risk, and revenue. They are looking for a Data Scientist to join a small, high-performing team where machine learning models are deployed into production and actively power decision-making
This role offers the opportunity to work end-to-end on real-world ML use cases including value prediction, anomaly detection, and scoring systems, with full ownership from problem definition through to deployment. You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex commercial challenges into scalable, measurable machine learning solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy predictive models including regression, classification, and time-series forecasting
- Develop customer analytics and segmentation models to support growth, retention, and monetisation strategies
- Deliver real-time machine learning scoring systems that operate reliably at scale
- Work with large, complex datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and actionable insights
- Translate business problems into clear analytical frameworks and measurable model outcomes
- Partner with engineers to productionise models and ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
- Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve model performance in live environments
- Communicate findings, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience
- 1-3 years of commercial experience in a Data Science role
- Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and experimental thinking
- Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis and modelling
- Hands-on experience deploying machine learning models into production environments
- Ability to work across the full model lifecycle, from data exploration to live deployment
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commercial, outcome-driven mindset
What’s on Offer
- The chance to work on real-time machine learning problems, not static reporting or offline analysis
- A small, collaborative team environment with full ownership and visible impact
- Exposure to high-scale, high-availability ML systems in a fast-moving start-up
- Flexible contract options: permanent or contract depending on preference
- Clear progression opportunities, including a path toward becoming part of the founding or core technical team
