In this role, you will lead both fundamental and applied research in this field, employing a combination of industry best practices and a first-principles approach. Your focus will be on designing and constructing ML models and infrastructure that elevate the company’s design and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead both fundamental and applied ML/AI research, pushing the boundaries of current technological capabilities
• Blend industry best practices with a first-principles approach to craft and implement ML models and infrastructure
• Collaborate with fellow product and infrastructure engineers to enhance Figma's design and collaboration tools. 

Experience Required

• 8 years experience in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or R
• 8 years experience in areas like machine learning, recommendation systems, natural language understanding/generation, or artificial intelligence
• Demonstrated proficiency in researching, building, and fine-tuning ML models in production environments
• Proven track record of effective communication and collaboration across different functions to implement solutions
• Demonstrated success in formulating multi-year roadmaps, aligning short-term projects with the overarching long-term vision
• Expertise in mentoring and influencing senior engineers across various organizational levels
