Our client is a leading global sports, media and entertainment company with a portfolio of iconic brands spanning combat sports, sports entertainment, live events, sports marketing and premium experiential hospitality.
The Company also partners with major sports rights holders through its global sports marketing and premium hospitality businesses.
The Role
The SVP, Head of Enterprise Data reports to Chief Data, AI and Technology Officer and is a senior technology leader responsible for defining and executing the Company’s enterprise-wide data strategy, architecture, governance and data products that enable enterprise systems, AI applications, analytics and digital experiences.
The SVP, Head of Enterprise Data will serve as the Company’s authoritative voice on data, setting the standard for how data is engineered, governed, maintained and consumed across its portfolio of sports, entertainment, marketing and hospitality businesses.
Responsibilities
Data Platform & Infrastructure
- Own and evolve the Company’s enterprise data warehouse, including cloud infrastructure, ingestion pipelines and integrations across all brands and source systems including Salesforce, ERP, HRIS, ticketing and Zeta.
- Ensure platform reliability at the Company’s operating cadence, including peak loads associated with major live events.
- Own cloud strategy, cost optimisation and engineering standards.
Data Governance, Quality & Data Privacy
- Define and operate the Company’s enterprise data governance framework, including policies, stewardship models and data quality SLAs.
- Prepare data for monetisation and AI consumption, including retrieval, transformation and structuring for enterprise AI tools.
- Enable the use of unstructured data including video, audio, transcripts and fan-service logs.
- Receive and prioritise AI, analytics and digital data demand through the enterprise governance front door so that requests route through one shared intake process.
- Serve as the Company’s data governance authority within its enterprise governance forum for Data & AI strategy and initiatives.
Master Data Architecture
- Own the master data architecture for the Company’s core data domains, specifically fans, events, commercial partners/customers, vendors and employees, creating unified cross-brand data models for each.
- Define canonical data models, identity-resolution logic and golden-record standards across business units.
- Partner with application teams, including marketing technology platforms and business systems, to design the integration strategy required to activate unified fan data for personalisation, marketing and loyalty programmes.
Data Products & Semantic Layer
- Build the Company’s internal data-product capability, delivering SLA-backed and documented data assets for AI, analytics and digital-product teams.
- Own the enterprise semantic layer and metrics catalogue, establishing authoritative definitions of common business metrics across all brands.
- Own a prioritised connector and integration roadmap sequenced according to use-case value, partnering with AI and Data Transformation teams to support AI and analytics capabilities.
Team Leadership
- Attract, develop and retain world-class data talent and build a culture focused on engineering quality and governance rigour.
- Manage the Enterprise Data budget with strong ROI discipline.
- Partner with the People & Culture team to improve data literacy across business units.
Required Experience and Skills
- 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture or enterprise data management, including 5+ years at SVP or VP level.
- Proven track record of building enterprise-scale data platforms, including architecture, cloud-native infrastructure using AWS, GCP or Azure, and real-time and batch-processing capabilities.
- Deep expertise in data governance, Master Data Management and privacy compliance including GDPR, CCPA and PCI within a multi-brand or multi-jurisdiction environment.
- Experience building unified data models across key enterprise domains.
- Strong data architecture background, including data modelling, semantic layers and integration patterns across multiple source systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead globally distributed teams and manage significant budgets within a matrixed environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within sports, live events, entertainment, hospitality or media where fan/customer data is a core business asset.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, SAP, HRIS architectures and data-catalogue platforms such as Atlan, Collibra or similar.
- Exposure to AI/ML data requirements including feature stores and training pipelines, without necessarily owning the AI build function.
