It has come to our attention that scammers are impersonating Digital Republic Talent employees on WhatsApp, attempting to deceive job seekers and steal personal information or money through fraudulent job offers. Regrettably, we are not alone in facing such challenges within the recruitment industry.
Rest assured that none of the individuals contacted by these scammers are part of our CRM. We want to emphasise that this situation does not involve a data breach. However, we are treating this matter with utmost seriousness and have promptly reported it to the relevant authorities to seek advice on the necessary next steps. Your security is our priority, and we’re here to help you spot these scams and protect yourself:
1. First Contact
We want to assure you that we never initiate contact on WhatsApp unless we’ve previously communicated. Our initial outreach always takes place through official channels, such as LinkedIn or via our verified ‘@digitalrepublictalent.com’ email addresses. To cross-reference the legitimacy of our employees, you can find their official LinkedIn profiles linked on the ‘Meet the Team’ section of our website.
2. Clear Job Offers
Our job offers are always transparent and specific. Be wary of vague messages regarding “remote work” or any unclear details. Our communication is professional and precise, ensuring you have all the necessary information.
3. Free Services to Candidates
Remember, you should never have to pay to secure a job with Digital Republic Talent. Our candidate services are always provided at no cost to you.
Protect Yourself:
1. Block the Scammer
If you receive a suspicious message, block the sender immediately. In your chat with the scammer, tap on their name or number at the top, then select “Block Contact.” This will prevent further communication from that sender.
2. Report the Scammer
After blocking the scammer, report them to WhatsApp to help improve the platform’s security. Open the chat with the scammer, tap on their name or number at the top, and choose “Report Contact.” Select the appropriate reason, such as “Spam” or “Harassment.”
3. Additional Information to WhatsApp
For extra protection, you can send an email to WhatsApp’s support team with information about the scammer, including their phone number and the content of their messages. Email “[email protected]” and share relevant details to assist with their investigation.
