Data Engineer – Fast Growing Consultancy in Central London (Remote/Hybrid) – SQL / Python / Azure / AWS / GCP / £40,000- 50,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Overview
A Data Engineer is needed for a fast-growing consultancy in Central London. Through defining, improving and transforming the digital and customer experience, they translate data into everyday language that drives positive change and accelerates strategic growth for a range of "big-name" clients.
Currently, they are seeking for a dynamic Data Engineer to join their team, to play an important role in their fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work across multiple clients developing of data products and services, helping integrate them into business environments. There will be a particular focus on ingesting, transforming, and supporting data processes using a variety of third-party tools. You will have a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the dynamic team delivering results for multiple enterprises, playing a vital role in the growth and strategic direction of our company.
The Data Engineer role will be the subject matter expert in the following:
- Develop and deliver cross- functional services to deliver value for clients
- Reporting to our Head of Data Engineering, and working together with Data Engineering Team in alignment with the company strategy.
- Demonstrate the strategic and commercial value of client's data engineering function to support business development activities, including client pitches, estimating briefs/scopes, and marketing activities.
- Ownership of processes to deliver accurate scoping of data engineering projects to ensure projects are delivered with the right resources, to scope, budget and deadlines.
- Utilize advanced data integration methods to create solutions that can be used for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Developing business solutions using a range of tools (Alteryx, Snowflake, Databases in cloud environments, etc.)
- Work with ETL tools to ingest and transform data sets from a variety of data sources
- Use of Python or Java to build cloud-based data pipelines
- Encourage team-wide diffusion of knowledge and being a source of technical best practices
- Playing a vital role in technical adoption of new techniques across all the departments within the organisation
- Learn multiple languages and latest trends to a professional level and transferring that knowledge across the team
- Be an advocate for integrity and trust in all outputs from the team with an unwavering commitment to “doing the right thing”
What experience skills are required for the Lead Data Engineer role:
- Hands on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Experience with the Azure Data ecosystem, primarily with Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse
- Strong competence in SQL and database design with a solid understanding of data architectures (e.g. Databases, data lakes)
- Strong Python (or equivalent) skills and knowledge of another programming language (such as NodeJS, Scala, Java, C, R, etc.) are advantageous
- Able to write production level code – well-written and explainable
- Knowledge of Git version control
- Proven experience working with APIs
- Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritising needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills, commercial awareness, and consulting experience are desirable
- Passion for technology and learning new skills and technologies
