Data Science Manager ( Buyer Science ) – New York / Hybrid – Media / Marketing Channel – Expanding Digital Media Agency – $135,000 – $165,000 + Benefits

Their Data Science team is a group embedded in the media buying practice to translate the domain knowledge gained from running media for their clients to smart tools that push the limits of advanced advertising. Their work includes predictive modeling/optimization, building workflow automation apps, and the pioneering application of Generative AI for novel marketing solutions – all in the service of making our work less repetitive and manual, more optimized, and seeking better outcomes for our media activation and media consulting clients.

They are seeking Data Scientists with media experience who can understand the core business objectives of the internal teams and their clients, and ideate, design, and develop innovative tools leveraging the latest marketing techniques. While experience in media is a plus, a passion for applying cutting-edge AI to marketing challenges is crucial.

About The Role

We are looking for a Manager, Buyer Science to join the team and work alongside strategists, analysts, data scientists, and software engineers. In this role, you will lead the data science arm of our media campaigns, owning the relationship with the client when it comes to optimization and data. You will be in a primarily client-facing position with heavy project ownership and emphasis on communicating with executive stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Owning analytics, science, and optimization for our media campaigns
  • Serving as the primary client point of contact on campaign optimization and data
  • Delighting our clients with meaningful analyses, compelling stories, and beautiful slides
  • Working with other data analysts & scientists to deliver rigorous measurement, consistent campaign performance, and insightful reporting
  • Developing new techniques (e.g., ML models, novel analytics, optimization algorithms, and automation) to improve the agency IP
  • Productionalizing workflows and contributing your code to our repos

Who You Are And What You Have

  • A degree from a well-regarded college or university, preferably a Masters or PhD. STEM degrees are also preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience doing quantitative analysis, modeling, optimization and/or statistics. Experience utilizing Python (or similar language) and SQL.
  • 2+ years of experience directly communicating with senior stakeholders, managing relationships, and presenting decks to a variety of audiences, all on technical subjects related to the analytics, science, and application of data
  • Knowledge of marketing/ advertising  a  flexibility in approach -- everything from data strategy, on-the-fly analytics, statistics, machine learning, and algorithms
  • An ability to strategically translate business challenges into quantitative problems, and solve them by whatever means are most appropriate and effective, which may not always be strict machine learning
  • A willingness to learn foundational knowledge and skills rapidly
  • A commitment to managing the quality & accuracy of analytics, ensuring high standards with your and others’ work
