Data Scientist – New York / On-site – Series A Fintech Startup – $160,000 – $200,000 + Equity

A fast-growing Series A fintech startup is hiring a Data Scientist to help build and scale the company’s product and marketing data science capabilities from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage business at a pivotal growth stage and become one of the first senior hires within a high-performing data team.

The company operates at the intersection of financial services, ecommerce, and data infrastructure, building intelligent financial tools used daily by modern consumer brands.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys ownership, and wants to directly shape both product direction and company strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and owning the product data science function from an early stage 
• Leading marketing and growth-focused data science initiatives 
• Partnering with risk and underwriting teams to deliver deep analytical insights 
• Working with large, messy datasets to uncover strategic opportunities 
• Influencing product direction through customer-facing analytics and intelligence 
• Helping scale a high-performance, product-driven data organisation 

What They’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Quantitative Research, or similar 
• Strong background within Financial Services, FinTech, Hedge Funds, Banking, Market Intelligence, Lending, or related sectors 
• Experience building or scaling data products in startup or high-growth environments 
• Exceptional SQL skills (absolute must-have) 
• Strong Python experience preferred (R also considered) 
• Strong statistical modelling and analytical capabilities 
• Ability to operate independently and build within ambiguous environments 
• Experience dissecting and interpreting large-scale datasets
