Senior Backend Engineer – Global Media Communications Group – New York / Hybrid – $130,000- $140,000 + Bens

Description:

As a Senior Backend Engineer in our technology team you will develop and deliver solutions that enable our agency teams to win in a very competitive marketplace. You will be working with a Product Owner and other engineers to deliver transformative solutions. The right candidate will be somebody who is motivated to get it done together, loves to continually learn and builds software utilizing modern technologies and strong engineering practices. The senior backend engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and on-going support of .NET applications.

The position will be comprised of both .NET development using C#, web development and database development. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, including both enhancements as well as new project development. The software engineer’s responsibilities will be to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure.

The candidate must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency and a commitment to quality and professionalism. In addition, a background in the following areas will significantly elevate the candidate’s ability to hit the ground running: Cloud infrastructure and data processing technologies. Strong understanding of media business.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Integrate with 3rd party API’s for data consumption.
  • Work with data storage solutions such as MSSQL Server, MongoDb, AWS Redshift
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Optimize and scale backend systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issues.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while following best practices.
  • Implement security best practices to protect data and sensitive information.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

Required skills: 

  • 5- 7+ years of development experience.
  • Proven experience as a backend engineer with a focus on C# and .NET.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API’s and knowledge of API design and management.
  • Strong knowledge of various AWS services like API Gateway, ECS, EKS, Lambda, ElasticCache etc.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL.
  • Strong understanding of MPP data warehouse technologies like Amazon Redshift.
  • Experience with lake house technologies like DataBricks.
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework/Dapper, OWIN, IoC, WebAPI required.
  • Good knowledge of design patterns.
  • Experience working with Agile Scrum teams and tools like JIRA.
  • Proficient understanding of Git-based code versioning tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools like TeamCity.
  • Experience with creating microservices out of monolithic applications.
  • Experience with migrating .NET applications from Windows to Linux platforms.

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
  • Adopting a “team first” mentality and working collaboratively to solve problems and meet shared goals.
