Senior Data Engineer – New York / Hybrid – Flexible across US East Coast – AI-driven InsurTech – $140,000 – $160,000 + Equity
Overview
A rapidly growing AI-driven InsurTech company is looking to hire its first dedicated Data Engineer to take ownership of the company’s evolving data engineering function and help scale a modern cloud-native data platform.
This is a high-impact opportunity to join a business transforming underwriting and insurance intelligence through AI, analytics, and modern data infrastructure.
You’ll work directly alongside the Chief Data & Analytics Officer to build and operationalize scalable data systems powering AI-driven insights, underwriting intelligence, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in greenfield environments, and wants to shape the future of data engineering within a high-growth AI company.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and scale the company’s data engineering environment end-to-end.
- Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines across a multi-cloud environment.
- Support the rollout and evolution of a greenfield Snowflake ecosystem.
- Help build and operationalize a modern cloud-based data lake architecture.
- Work across AWS or Azure environments
- Partner closely with product, analytics, and leadership teams to package and surface data insights, trends and recommendations
- Contribute to AI and Generative AI-related data initiatives.
- Drive data quality, monitoring, resilience, and scalability best practices
- Support downstream analytics and AI use cases through well-structured and accessible data infrastructure.
Required Experience
- 7–10+ years of Data Engineering experience
- Strong hands-on Snowflake experience (non-negotiable)
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience working across AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
- Experience with data lakes, warehousing, and modern data architecture
- Understanding of monitoring, resilience, and scalable pipeline design
- Exposure to Generative AI or AI-enabled data workflows
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership in a startup-style environment.
- Insurance Domain Experience Required
- Candidates should come from an insurance background and understand core insurance.

- Policies
- Exposure
- Deductibles
- Limits
- Experience within P&C insurance is preferred, though broader insurance experience is also welcomed.
